Warning as Transport companies are being urged to begin planning now to avoid being impacted by a backlog of licensing work.
Driver Training organisations say delays will hit the industry in the next 12 months. Drivers risk being taken off the road with 2023 and 2024 estimated to be a record year for Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) training backlogs. The result of the cyclical nature of the qualification combined with clearing the testing backlog due to the Covid 19 pandemic, operators are being urged to address the situation early to keep drivers qualified and legal to drive.
It is estimated that 16 million hours of training is required before the end of 2024 and these figures do not include drivers that are currently training to get HGV and PSV driving licences. Failure to hold a valid CPC certificate can result in a £1000 fine and being un-licensed to drive.
